Lemon basil garlic puree

Lemon basil has an incredible lemon scent, which brightens dishes where added. If you can not find lemon basil, you can use any basil variety you can buy. Try growing lemon basil yourself! They're easy to grow and nothing beats fresh basil.


Lemon Basil Garlic Puree

2 cloves (6g) garlic
5 bunches (8g) basil, lemon basil variety
¼ tsp (2g) salt


  1. In a mortar, pound the garlic until a soft paste. 3 minutes
  2. Snip the basil leaves off its branches with scissors and add to the garlic. 1 minute
  3. Using the pestle, grind and pound the basil and garlic until a thick puree. 5 minutes
  4. Add salt and enjoy immediately on toasted bread! 1 minute
  5. Alternatively, you can increase this recipe by 3-5x and use a food processor to make the puree.
