Chinese Braised Tofu

Chinese braised tofu

Garnish with sesame oil and chopped scallions, a simple Chinese side dish that goes well with noodles or rice! Have it hot or cold!


All Ingredients

1 block (595g) tofu, 20oz
1 cup (250g) soy sauce
¼ tbsp (3g) salt
2 tbsps (26g) sugar
5 (5g) star anise
¼ tbsp (3g) cinnamon
½ tbsp (6g) white pepper, ground
½ tbsp (6g) preserved lemon, chopped


  1. Place all ingredients in stock pan and fill with enough water to cover the tofu completely with about 1 inch of water. 1 minute
  2. Bring to a boil, then simmer on low for 3-4 hours. about 4 hours
  3. Once braised, you can serve immediately or store in the fridge in the braising liquid to serve later. 1 minute
