Indian chai bubble tea

Indian Chai tea is best with milk, so why not combine it with boba - Taiwanese tapioca balls - and make Chai Bubble Milk Tea? Boba, also called bubble, are dark, chewy tapioca balls the size of small marbles. Their texture really adds contrast to the smooth texture of tea. Delicious hot or cold. It's a classic Asian drink since the 1980's!


All Ingredients

2 cups (220g) milk
2 tsps (12g) chai tea leaves, dry
cup (50g) tapioca balls, dry
2 tbsps (42g) agave nectar


  1. Boil the tapioca balls in a pot of 5 cups of water for about 5 minutes. Cook times may be different depending on what type you purchase. 5 minutes
  2. In another pot, bring the milk to a simmer and seep the tea leaves in the milk. 5 minutes
  3. Prepare 2 serving cups with 1 tbsp of agave nectar each. Divide the tapioca balls equally between the two cups. 1 minute
  4. Strain the tea leaves from the milk, and divide the milk tea equally between the two cups. 1 minute
  5. Stir and enjoy while hot, or refrigerate to enjoy cold!
