I've specified meat in this recipe, because it doesn't matter what type of meat you grill in this dish. The delicious flavors come from a savoy garlic-ginger sauce and the garnishes on top. This is an easy dish to create if you've made a large batch of sauce.

1 lb meat of any kind (beef, chicken, etc.)
1/2 cup thinly sliced scallions
1 tbsp togarashi spice (Japanese 7-spice)

Garlic-Ginger Sauce:
5 large garlic cloves
2 tbsp ginger, fresh, grated
2 tbsp onion, grated
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/5 cup sake
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup mirin
1 tbsp sesame oil

  1. Make the sauce the day before. Allow the sauce to mature overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. When you're ready to serve, heat a grill or cast iron skillet to a high temperature. The higher the better.
  3. Grill the meats.
  4. When the meat is ready, slice the meat into bite sized chunks.
  5. Place on serving plate and top with sauce, scallions and togarashi spice.
  6. Enjoy immediately!
